Just purchased the following Android ebook,

seems to be pretty good on my first peruse. I'm especially interested to read the content provider and opengl sections. The first 120+ pages are on Android "basics", but if you're new to Java you may want to get an accompanying volume
I've also been following the author, Ed Burnette, as he's been learning about the iPhone and comparing the development environment to Android's.
