Just switched from iOS to Android...

Hi guys,

I'm new to android, switched today from iOS so i'm a complete noob.

I transferred everything from my iPhone via HTC manager to my new phone. The only thing I can't find are my images and movies. They are transferred because when I connect my phone to the pc, they are on the storage. In the gallery app they don't show up? How can I see them? Do I need a filemanager or something?

I wanted to add my mail addresses to the mail app off HTC. All working fine except the app doesn't show my messages in my inbox? My mail is IMAP and still the app only shows new mails when they arrive?

My last question, I wanted to add my gmails so I saw the gmail app on the phone and I added my gmail, but I've got 3 gmails. I don't find how to add another one, is this not possible?

Kind regards,

Do you know what format your images and movies are? I would assume the movies are quicktime (.mov) and not mp4's. If you want to play them natively you'll need a different media player.

Give MX Player a try.

To add another gmail account go to menu>settings>accounts and you should see an option there to add an account.

welcome to android.. and AF.

hope you like your htc phone.. which did you get? and why did you get it?
what made you decide to give android a try?

Gmail accounts are important to android.. it is how it keeps your info and apps purchases. to add more accounts.. you have to add more accounts to the phone.
from the main homescreen.. go into settings.. find "add accounts"

about finding all your media files... i am guessing...
you have to add the directories into the app's search list.
i dont have your phone or app.

hope you like android, your new phone, and AF..

I've changed because of a school project ( following ICT on university ), I had to develop a Android app. So after working with android for that project, I felt the freedom you have on Android and thats why I bought a HTC one :-).

I've downloaded a filemanager and that way I can see my imported iOS images, but I still find it weird that they don't show up in my gallery.

Try moving them to the DCIM or Downloads folder. I would think it would work then. I don't know much about how Sense organizes stuff, but stock Android on my Nexus works really well with the gallery. I don't keep my pictures on my phone that long. I usually go through and delete them since I use Dropbox auto-upload. All my photos get stored on the cloud.

Also, welcome to AF. Congratulations on taking the red pill. The adjustment is rough sometimes, but the freedom is great.

Hi guys,

I'm new to android, switched today from iOS so i'm a complete noob.
I too just switched not long ago and I'm simply _thrilled_ with all that one can do with an Android phone.

This is an exemplary forum, with lots of great people to help, to share, and to encourage when one is first starting out.

My 2 cents is:

1) Be patient
2) Be committed to learning a new platform
3) Be open minded and remember to avoid comparing to iOS.
4) Notice the wide variety of wonderful apps, yes some are not quite as refined as iOS, yet what _Is_ outstanding, offsets the differences.
5) Give yourself enough time to appreciate the platform, before judging.
6) Give SWYPE or SwiftKey, both swiping input method replacement keyboards a try, you'll be amazed at how fast, fun and accurate they are.

As a long time Apple laptop / desktop computer user who's had every iPhone up to and including the 5S, never in my wildest dreams did I expect to have such a great experience with Android. iOS met most my basic needs, but finally drove me away with their refusal to include a modern sized display.

Welcome to the Forums. :D

I had this same problem when i changed from iPhone 3g to first S series Samsung. I made transfer manually with PC.
