K-9 Mail Sync Problem

Hi, I recently installed the K-9 Mail app but I'm having problems with syncing. It won't sync when new emails come in unless I do it manually. I have all the settings within the app to sync but am still having this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions to correct this issue... or any email app suggestions?

Edit: I also have the app on my SD card if it's relevant.

As always: what type of email account? If it's pull there's nothing you can do about it. Without details it's impossible for us to assist. We only know what you tell us.
