K9 supports push. It doesn't push though -- the mail server does. Mail clients don't do the pushing. Your mail server needs to support IMAP IDLE. Not all IMAP servers do. For push email, all pieces in the chain must support push.Does K9 actually push email?
Nope. See for yourself:I thought K9 only did pull?
K-9 Mail is an open-source e-mail client with search, push email, multi-folder sync, flagging, filing, signatures, bcc-self, mail on SD & more!
I only use POP3 a\c's so won't work for me![]()
You can kinda make it work
Two ways:
1) Forward your POP3 email to a GMAIL account. Since GMAIL pushes, you'll get the POP3 email as soon as it's received in GMAIL. This retains the original email in the original account. You will have to manually log in to the original POP3 account to delete any emails.
2) "POP" your POP3 email into your gmail (instead of forwarding) -- this will automatically clear the email from your original account without you having to login to delete.
I pop my comcast account into my gmail to get this pseudo push. Push is better for battery life than pull/fetch.
Great stuff.
I guess when you reply though it will come from the Gmail a\c rather than from the POP a\c?
