Help Keep getting corrupted pics and videos

Hi all

Really annoying problem!

I have a 32GB sdcard which is running out of space so I went and bought the 64GB SanDisk uhs class 10 card.

I used windows to copy files off the old card and onto the new, to find half the media corrupt and probably 80% of camera shots the same. The preview looks fine but in the gallery they are with corrupt with the black background and smiley or I got a vertical line some of the pictures. Everything left of the line is completely grey...

Iv tried reformatting the card via windows and via Android.

When you view them from the old card via a computer do they view fine or no? How about when you copy from the old card to the computer how do they view or are you saying they are corrupt on the old card to begin with? Mary

Everything to do with the old card is ok. First noticed it when I copied the pics over on the pc, I assumed something went wrong and card wasnt formatted properly or something.

Using internal storage is fine too, no dramas.

As soon as I introduce the new card to the mix it all goes belly up! I have 2 pics I just took now and in the gallery the preview looks corrupt but the pics do open.

I also backup my titanium backup and NANDROID to the sd card, I'd hate to need them and realise they are corrupt too...

Is it just photos that don't work right on the new card or have you tried other files from the computer like some PDF files and other JPEGS that you have on the computer? If nothing is working right after copying it over to the new card then I would say the new card is defective, it does happen. Even if it's just JPEGS that don't work right on the new card then still must be the card would be my guess. Mary

Try Samsung micro sd card. I had two bad SanDisk 64 gb cards with my s4. Read about their batch of bad cards and got a Samsung 64gb card. Never had issues again.

Never heard about there batch of bad cards. I have always had sand disk cards and no problems. One I have in my S5 is a sandisk I bought not long ago. I have never seen Samsung ones at the store but I usually get mine at Walmart and I think sandisk is the most popular. If you think it's the card take it back for another or see if you can try it in another computer. Mary

Is there some place to look up and determine if you have one from the faulty batch as I would like to pass that info along to friends. Mary

Oh I thought you bought new from a store like Walmart. Maybe the e-bay seller had old stock laying around then. I couldn't find anything recent, just from more than a year ago about the bad batch so I would think all the retail stores wouldn't have any on the shelves now. Mary
