Keep losing GPS signal

I've been to the AT&T store and the Samsung rep at Best Buy about this. AT&T guy changed my sim card (not sure what that has to do with it...) and the Samsung guy ran a bunch of checks and said it all was okay - but neglected to tell me my alarm was no longer set for this morning. :(

Anyway, GPS dropouts as frequent as I'm having them are unacceptable. I only have a plastic case, so that shouldn't be a problem. It's the same case I've had since day 1, when GPS was.. well, slightly better at least.

I recently drove from North of Boston to Providence with no GPS signal whatsoever. I drove 15 minutes to work this morning with it cutting in and out.

I get the same results with Waze or Google Maps.

I'm ready to go back to the AT&T store and make a warranty claim, but a simple google search reveals a lot of GPS complaints. I otherwise really like the phone, but I can't get there from here with it (GPS doesn't work), I'm going to have to switch to something else.

Question is - do you think I'll have better luck with GPS replacing this S6 with another or switching it to another android phone? GPS and screen quality are my highest priorities - besides generally usability..

I'm confused. If the problem is solved easily through 3rd party software, why doesn't Samsung issue an update to fix it? I'm happy to try the suggestions in that thread as soon as I get the chance (after work) and I appreciate your response. I just can't help but think that if it's this easy, shouldn't my phone already come with it? Why would a top tier phone like a Galaxy s6 not take proper advantage of its GPS hardware?

"top tier"

In fairness, much as I loath and despise my pathetic S6, I haven't noticed any problem with the GPS - other than the fact the phone cannot last more than 30 minutes while using it, before bricking itself with a dead battery.

so you get the standard excuse for this failure of a phone - you must be REALLY unlucky and have a dud. Take it back and tell them to give you a proper phone. Or at least another S6.
