KeePassDroid backup to SD?

I've been looking for a password manager and have seen a lot of good reviews of KeePassDroid. Looks like a good app but I have a few questions.

Can I back this up to an SD card or does it simply have the database reside on the SD card at all times?

Can I sync this to my PC?

Once I create a group, can I later change the group name or edit the icon?

I really appreciate all of your help!
 
Ideally you'd use the desktop app and then sync its database (kbdx file) with your android device. At least that's how I do it. It's much easier to enter the data in the desktop app first, sync and then you have your passwords via the android app.

You could certainly do the reverse though I suppose.

The default SD card directory however is 'keepass', that's where you'll find/sync your kbdx file to/from. With any file manager (EStrongs, Astro) you should be able to copy it to a backup folder on your SD card if necessary.

Joggy, so are you just using the viewer for Android? I don't believe the kbdx files are yet supported with the KeePassDroid.
 
Oops, switched some letters...kdbx files. That's what I'm using anyhow. KeepPass2 desktop app along with KeePassDroid,

I just checked the KeePassDroid website and yeah I guess it is view only when using the newer kdbx files (vs the older kdb files). I've just always found it easier to enter the original data in the desktop app, then sync my database to android for KeePassDroid. Sorry for any confusion regarding the versions/file types.
 
So far I haven't "sync'd" at all. What I do since the KeePassDroid and KeePass on the PC use the same data file is to simply copy over from my PC to my Droid. Not really sync'ing but does allow use of the common data file on both platforms.

I know some folks are using Dropbox to do something like this but I haven't looked into it yet.
 
You copy the db file into your dropbox folder on your PC. Install Dropbox on your Android device. Navigate into your Dropbox folder on your phone, click the db file to open it, and it will open the file in KeePassDroid automatically.

It's so nice. Now I have the same password database available securely on my home and work systems as well as my phone, and I can update it from anywhere and not have to worry about it.

KeePass + DropBox is the most useful "cloud" app yet.
 
i just downloaded this keepassdroid app and it's asking me for the database password and keyfile ?

Anyone know what to do here/next?

You need a KeePass database to open...do you have one already from using KeePass on a desktop computer? You would need to import that database to your phone and be able to navigate to it.

You don't necessarily need a keyfile...I've never used one, but I believe it has to do with added security.

You could also create a new database with the app on your phone, but it would likely be far easier to enter all your info on the desktop program, save the database, then import it.

No, i don't have this program on my desktop (do I need to download it there as well?)
