Keeping old mail in K-9 mail app?

After reading about how great K-9 was, I decided to give it a try. Mostly, it seems to be better than the default app on my Droid Inc. At least, it has a lot more options.

One thing it doesn't seem to do, which the old app did, is to keep old emails around. It looks like if I delete the mail on the server (using POP3) from another mail client, K-9 will remove that mail from the Inbox folder. Does anyone know if there is a way to keep an old email from deleting itself if it's no longer on the mail server?

if i can ask. Why do you delete off the server but want to keep on the phone? The app pulls the emails from the server each time it polls so its going to see that one was deleted and delete it off the phone too.

Mainly to keep having a lot of old mail clogging up the server. In order to do that, I've gotten in the habit of deleting mail off the server as soon as I've retrieved it on my desktop system. But I keep all the old mail locally in my desktop email program so they can still be searched or checked later.

Similarly, I might want to keep an old email on my phone if it has info I want to check later. I guess it really boils down to personal preference. Since there's an actual Delete function in the mail app, I can always manually delete mail I don't want. I'd prefer that to having the mail app automatically delete something.
