Help keyboard and camer question

Hi everyone! About 2 weeks ago i made the switch from iphone to android after having a 3rd broken iphone (all problems i didnt cause). I am getting the hang of it but 2 questions.

keyboard - i downloaded the go keyboard and i had to turn off thd little bar across the top because it annoyed me. Is that the auto correct? Iphone would just automatically correct words if you were a letter off. I am making a lot of mistakes with this keyboard. I dont know if i type too fast or what.

Camera - is there another option to take pictures other than the shutter button? Iphone you could use the volume button on the side snd i loved that but it doesnt work on here. Trying to find other options.

Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The bar across the top sounds like autocorrect. If you can't see what that's going to change a word to, how do you stop it making the wrong choice? (Don't say the iPhone doesn't get it wrong, my daughter has one and is always joking about how bad it is ;)).

My advice is to pick a better keyboard than Go. SwiftKey is very popular - you get the prediction bar on any Android keyboard, but on the plus side you can save time by selecting the word from the predictions rather than typing it all out.

Any keyboard takes a little getting used to though.

Some Android phones have other options for the camera, but most just use the on screen button. There may be an alternative app can do that, but I don't know as it's never been my priority (I actually can set mine to use the volume key - custom software - but don't use it).

I didn't see you mention your phone's model, but it's as Hadron had said.

The auto-correct on Android works better than that on the iPhone for the single reason of that word suggestion bar. On SwiftKey, it displays the top 3 words that it thinks you are typing. Unlike on iPhone where it just inserts what it wants. It allows you to ignore the autocorrect as well.

As for the camera, it's manufacturer dependent. For example, in my Samsung Note 2 and Tab 4, both has the option to use the volume key as the capture keys in the settings. One thing that you may notice in Android is that each app's settings is inside the app, and not under the settings app. The settings app only controls the phone itself and certain global behavior of the OS. But if say you want to change the settings of the camera, you have to go into the camera app and select it's settings menu.
