Keyboard changes

Why dose Android have to go change things or is it an Samsung thing?

I have had my phone now for a couple of years and for some reason they have change the keyboard on the device.

1. Off and on to double tap the space bar to insert "period" works sometimes and then not
2. They changed the button just to the right of the space bar from 'period' to 'comma', this allowing for the double tap of the space bar for the "period". (I also have a Galaxy S8 my work phone and that has a 'period' next to the space bar and double tap dose not work on that phone)
3. Now the double tap dose not work, and I have to go into special characters to find the period (see note 2)
4. They removed the top line on the keyboard which used to be numbers line (0-9). Now they have integrated it with the q-p line.
5. Auto-correct or suggestion line is now missing.

I never changed any settings above to make any of these changes. Anyone else experience things like this?

Even though you didn't make any changes, they can still occur with new updates.

You can check out the settings (settings/language and input/Samsung keyboard) and see what you can change although it doesn't really have many options.

Otherwise i would suggest you download a keyboard from the play store Swiftkey and gboard (Google keyboard) are from the best ones in my opinion.

Well there has been numerous updates and haven't had it change on me once. Guess this one did it..lol

Yeah, I did go into the setting to see if I could change it back. I got pretty much all the original settings back except the Number Keys at the top. I checked with my S7 phone and there is a slight difference (settings/language and input/Samsung keyboard/Keyboard Layout). On the S7, I have an option to have the Number Keys, but on the Note 4, there is no option for this it only says "Alternative characters". Go Figure!

The phone just did a software update the other day, and no changes.
