Keyboard edit cursor sucks

Used to iPhone for 10 years. Changed to my first android. The keyboard edit scroll really sucks versus the iPhone option. Any way to change this setting? If I make a typo and want to fix my typo the cursor is under my thumb and I can't see it. Make sense?

Have you tried installing a different keyboard from the play store?

If you want to move the cursor without holding it with your thumb, you can swipe right to left or left to right on the spacebar to move the cursor.

This works on some keyboards. I'm using Gboard.

It's a google product. If you don't like its data collection then use something else. I don't have a problem with google's data collection so it's not an issue for me.
