Keyboard like the Iphone/Ipad?

I love the "swype" style keyboard, but one thing I miss is a function on the Iphone/Ipad. Let's say you write the following text:

How was your day? In order to get the question mark, you tap the icon on the keyboard and it takes you to that group of special keys. If you hit the space bar twice to start a new sentence, the keyboard stays on that section (the special keys). The Iphone/Ipad will revert back to the letter keyboard after you hit the space bar twice. I like that feature, and I looked at our phone and cannot see a way to change this....am I missing something?

You can download a number of other keyboards. SwiftKey is a popular one. I prefer Thumb Keyboard.

I'm not sure if either has that specific feature you are looking for. You may want to check them out because they are generally considered to be much better than the standard Samsung keyboard. They may have other features that you like more.

Thanks a lot. I do like the "swype" feature of the standard keyboard...but will go look at the two you mentioned.

I use slideIT keyboard, which does kind of do what you are asking only slightly differently in that when you click on the special keys and click for example the question mark it then automatically goes back to the normal keys, or you have the option of the little lock button in the corner to stay on the special keys.

Im not very good at explaining so I hope that makes sense?

I like slideIT though, and I recently switched to an S3 from an iPhone, slideIT it also has the iphone button layout skin which can be installed separately - I found that handy as its more like what I was used to so made my ios to android conversion easier lol

Theres a free version of slideIT in the play store to try out I think

The two that I mentioned has a swype feature as well, I believe. SwiftKey gives you a one month trial before you have to pay, while Thumb Keyboard doesn't. You get the usual 15-minute time to get a refund, but I find that 15 minutes is way too short a time frame to get used to a keyboard. It took me longer than that just to configure it. Normally, it takes me a week to become reasonably proficient in a new keyboard.

I eventually went with Thumb because of the split keyboards and also SwitftKey adds automatic spaces here and there. I could not figure out how to turn off the auto spaces.

Another vote for Thumb Keyboard!

I use it on my phone and tablet. There are so many options, it takes a while to customize it, but once you go through them, you will have all the control you could ask for.
