Is there anyway of making the actual "type box" font bigger. With my dodgy eyes i struggle to make out certain wordas without glasses and i never carry glasses with me.
I use handcent so don't know if i can get a different keyboard or change the settings on the one i have.

Turning the phone sideways (landscape) might help.

You can certainly install other keyboards (Android will use whatever keyboard you set as default, across all applications), but I don't know if the others have bigger fonts. I think swype/swiftkey have the same font.

But as JBentleyR indicated, the landscape mode may work better

I've set my font size up but in the type box it's still small. That's what i wanna make bigger. It's hard to read, once i press send i can see it clearly as the font is then to a readable size for me.

In a word, NO, at least nothing stock, other than going into landscape mode. I too wish the text box were larger. My old Optimus M had a larger text box. Other than d/l 3rd party text apps, looks like we are stuck with the moronic single line text box.
