Does anyone else's keyboard just randomly change?

It's happened three times now. I'll go to type a txt message, and the keyboard layout will completely change, and on this occasion the skin.

The only way to resolve this is to run a repair through PC.

Annoying isn't the word!

Never ever happened to me.

But I only have one keyboard installed.

And I don't use any theme or skins on my phone (which is where your keyboard may have changed)

There must be some other keyboard app or APK or skin you installed at some point.

Find it and delete it or uninstall it.

This is what's so frustrating. I’ve never installed a new keyboard, or skin. Something else quite odd, despite my keyboard displaying English characters, under settings > Language and keyboard the only keyboard settings I have are Japanese keyboard, and Chinese keyboard. I don't have the option to change either of these to English keyboard.

ive never come across that problem. hope you dont have some kind of virus. maybe try flashing another rom..

I upgraded in the standard way (I think) through PC companion; Did the whole turn off > hold down back button > turn on etc...

The phone is complete bog standard. No flashy extras, or launchers, and certainly not rooted. I have apps obviously, but ones that are used globally, so I'm hoping they aren't infected with anything nasty.

I've never had the option to select an 'English' keyboard, even straight out of the box. I assumed this was because it was an Asian phone (Sony), so came with default keyboards of that region.

It's really not an issue, the keyboard is in English, and until you go into the keyboard options through settings, you wouldn’t know any different. It’s when it just decides to randomly change, that it’s frustrating. Resetting isn’t that much of a ball ache, but I'd like to know, for my own piece of mind, why the hell it keeps happening.

I hope that you chose to do a Factory Reset after upgrading to 2.3. (it is part of the instructions and it removes old userdata)

I assume I would have. I'd have followed any instructions given. But this happened a couple of times while I was on 1.6, and every upgrade thereafter.

Like I said, it's not a massive issue, just frustrating, and wondered if anyone else has had the same problem.

I'm due to upgrade in Feb, so hopefully the problem will disappear with the phone. :)

Actually, I doubt you would have done a factory reset. No one does.

When you install 2.3, and start the phone for the first time it brings you through a 4 step setup wizard. Most people think at that point all the old userdata is wiped out.....it isn't.

A factory reset only takes a couple seconds....just remember to do a backup first.
