Kindle App in the UK help

I have been trying to get the Kindle app to work for days now, I am in the UK, and having some problems with it...

I can download any of the sample books, but I cannot download any full books. On Amazon.co.uk it will let me enter my credit card details, but the Kindle store is on Amazon.com, and I cannot enter any of my stuff on that, so it will not let me download any books to use on the app.

Firstly on Amazon.com, it only doesn't let me select my type of card, and then also if I enter stuff, it says I haven't included the right date that the credit card was valid from, despite the fact there was never a box to enter the start date in.

Why can't these Android apps just work?

I tried purchasing books and only when I used the 1-click option it worked. It took some time before I got the confirmation email from Amazon and got the book in the app (30 minutes) but eventually it worked.

I've just ordered a book without any issues.

Are you using a credit card and NOT solo/maestro/switch?

Don't see any issue, been using it for a couple of days, had to set up a card on the .com site even for a free books, but added my Visa Debit with no issues.

Just set up your account via the web and away you go.

I think it should even retain your info from the uk store, but I couldn't log in with my .co.uk detail for some reason, but apart from that it has been smooth.

An account has to be created on the Amazon.com site. From there you can manage payment details and addresses - make sure your Country of Residence is set properly on the "Manage your Kindle Page".

Amazon's Digital Ordering requires a credit/debit card (Visa / Mastercard / Amex), or the use of GC funds.

Oh I have a Solo card (cashcard not credit or debit) so that is why it wont work.... I am being sent a visa card by the bank in August, so it should work then.
