Which has better performance or battery life, I need better battery life. Is it worth upgrading and rooting to kitkat?

In my opinion I believe it depends on the ROM but I've been on CM12.1 and honestly I must say I love it. It's so much smoother than 4.4 in my opinion. As far as battery goes it is better too, but they are almost identical to me. Hope I helped some.

Any bugs or anything or is it smooth daily?

No bugs for me. Then again I'm not sure which phone you have. Since all S3's are combined together in one forum I can't assume that you have an SPH-L170 like I do. I'm using CM12.1 and everything works, data, calls, camera. Smoothest I've ever seen my phone even with a ton of apps running. :)

no DONT Do It ! its Reall bad Cant save apps on yur phone unless you root it all thanks to kit kat

That is incorrect. However you do need root access if you want to write anything to the external SD card. Installing apps, or writing anything to internal memory works fine.
