Lag reducing update.

I installed the herolite rom. there are a few that you can install if you have root access. That one, however, is for the htc magic.

ahhh My bad , I thought It may be an Official OTA update for reducing lag for the Magic :p

I am going to ring T-Mobile and HTC support today to see if there is any news on how/when this update will be released for the G2, ill update with any info later guys.

I hope it's not installed through the HTC Sync tool as, despite my best efforts and hours of trying, I have still not managed to sync my phone with my laptop.

billy have you downloaded the latest sync software update from HTC this fixed the issue for me :D

Ill be ringing them on my dinner in the next hour.

I have tried syncing 2.0.2 and 2.0.4 with little success. Pretty much given up on these versions. Will have to wait until HTC/T-Mobile bring out an update to remedy things.

Ok spoke to both HTC and T-Mobile and also browsed the T-Mobile forums.

I will try to keep this as straight forward as possible.

If you have a G2 then you should update through T-Mobile not the HTC site or elsewhere.

T-Mobile havent got anything happening regarding a new ROM at the moment but may do in the future. If they release this new ROM expect it to be a while after.

Upgrading to another official ROM WILL work but:
The T-Mobile features will vanish and your warranty will be void  (according to the T-Mobile tech team).

So its down to your personal preference really, how patient are you? how much lag is your phone getting? Mine is ok to be honest.

The chap from T-Mobile did say totally in his own opinion that he thinks T-Mobile WILL release this update in the future.

Thanks for the update. Useful but disappointing.

My lag is bad enough. There is one instance when the lag gets really really annoying. It happens in the dialer when I have just made a call and want to make another one. I tap on the contact in the call history and there is so much lag that the call history updates, moving the entire log down one space and then the 'tap' registers, resulting in a call to the wrong person. This happens to me every day and is probably enough to warrant taking the phone back and swapping for a different model if it can't be fixed soon.

Apart from that I suppose I could live with it. What T-Mobile features would I lose apart from the warranty if I installed the HTC Rom?

Any ideas?

Thanks again for your help.

T-Mobile have just announced they are ARE going to provide an update after great wailing and gnashing of teeth from paying customers. They said it definitely was coming but didn't give a time scale.

Thank god i didn't wait for them, i just rooted my phone and installed the rom, works fantastic now, no lag issues at all.

T-mobile knew the phone was laggy when they sold it to you as it was already mentioned in reviews, once they heard HTC were going to do an update they should have been on the case, orange already have the update for their phones, so it can be done and alot quicker. Sorry to say T-mobile has no excuse for the delay.

As far as invalidating the warrenty, make a back up and you can always flash it back to the old stock rom.
