Latest camera update is amazing!

Camera 3.1 is now being pushed out. I just installed it. The app now opens instantly and pictures snap very fast. Auto HDR+ was added as well and everything is much more intuitive.

Praise Google!

yep, there are a ton of cameras on Play Store, links are always best to provide....
that is why when I talk about anything, I always provide a link to the app.

Now, all that aside, since you mentioned "Google" I have to assume, and in government circles, that means "ass out of you and me"..... did you really mean Google's Camera App?

* Google Camera - Android Apps on Google Play

Now, that I have downloaded that app, I can see why I uninstalled it a long time ago.
It is no where as good as the default camera on my Samsung Galaxy S5....

. Settings is ridiculously non-existent compared to what I can do on the S5.

hope I am wrong, don't want to throw water on your favorite app.

I have downloaded and tried out a whole slew of cameras. Some have unique features that are good. But, for everyday use, the default camera is still King of the Hill.

That's the app being referred to I suspect.

My main beef with any of the Google Camera app versions on any device I've had is the length of time it takes to take the photo after pressing the shutter button. More often than not (especially when taking pics of my kids), you press the button, wait a second or 2 and the moment is gone.

I suppose it's device dependant a little, but has it improved? The stock camera app on the G4 is nearly instant.

It would appear that it is not designed for any of the Samsung CPUs.

Download: Google Camera 3.1 with new UI and features for Marshmallow devices
Nov 18th - After a brief moment of exclusivity, Google Camera with updated UI and new features is now finally rolling out for all 6.0+ devices on the Play Store. Download link provided in the post.

Focusing on Android 6.0+ devices, I think I will stay far far away from it for now.

The lack of settings does suck. This post is mainly relevant to the Nexus devices(I use a Nexus 6). I posted it in the Nexus 6 forum but it was moved here. Since we can't use the Samsung, LG, HTC, or Motorola oem apps, it's either this or third party stuff. The third party crap has only proven to be a waste of my money.

The lag time that I used to have to deal with is gone. The app now opens right up and there is no delay when taking a picture.

Google has really been knocking it out of the park lately, between Android 6.0 and this latest update.
