Latest OS update fixes the RAW camera mode

This OTA update appeared a few days ago.

I noticed that the camera app, if you select Pro mode and make a shortcut for it, it now remembers the RAW mode.

Also the raw files are improved. Previously they were really poor quality. I have just loaded one into Lightroom 6.5 and it looks pretty good. Only LR6.5 can read the file; no other DNG-capable software I have can.
 
Maybe Samsung read these forums after all..... :)

I still don't understand why they could not have used some more standard (older) form of DNG.
 
You would be surprised. I once got a nasty message from a well known IT manufacturer who found a post of mine (under a nickname, but they realised it was me) asking me to delete the message if I wanted support from them. I told them it was a few years old and I had no edit access...

What is true is that most mfgs forbid their staff from participating, and choose to not participate officially. I co-run a sizeable forum and see this behind the scenes. Mfgs are very nervous of participation. They prefer to place an advert and pay for it, and let all sorts of incorrect info be posted and left in place. Really weird, because I know that those who participate (via a smart person, not some monkey) do very well out of it.
