how do i remove a app from the home screen without deleating it ? or does that just remove it from home screen?

Just long press on it then drag to the trash icon at the bottom. It won't delete the app just the shortcut.

It only deletes the app if you do a long hold over the trash can, so just let it go as soon as it turns red
