LauncherPro+ and Using Icons from all Theme Packs

Hey, I am new to the forums as a member, but I have been browsing around for a while getting answers to all my questions. Thanks for taking the time to help me out with my problem. I have an HTC-Thunderbolt, I just switched from ADW to LauncherPro + and I am happy with the change so far... I have the LP +, along with several skins that are beautiful and I highly recomend. I also have two Icon packs the M22-3D Icon Pack and the Suave HD Icon Theme. One issue I am having is you have to apply ONE of those themes Icon packs, and you are then stuck with ONLY those icons. Is there any way I can pick and choose icons from BOTH Icon Packs to customize all my app icons? Is there a Program that will allow me access to the Library of Icons that comes with those theme packs?
Also I don't like the Main Dock on Lp+... I like to keep it simple and a scrolling dock just isn't for me. I turned that feature off, and I have 3 Icons, the app drawer opener, a phone, and contacts icon. But how can I put custom Icons on the main dock. The Lp+ Icons are boring greyish/whitish and have no detail at all. I like black, sleek, glossy icons that look nice, not just shapes that look like a kid drew them.... Any advice is greatly appreciated, be it a direct solution to my problem, or having to download another app to add icons. Whatever I gotta do, I DID have the ICON PACK - Droidicon as well, and just didn't like the icons, and it took forever to look through them all....

Or should I just switch to the Go Launcher Ex......? From what I'm told it's basically the exact same thing as LauncherPro + & ADW combined....
 
GO Launcher doesnt actually have "icon" packs but rather theme packs. Changes all icons in the app drawer to the theme, so you can only use one set at a time as well.

Although the dock and homescreen icons are freely changeable to anything you want (either theme icons or custom icons).
 
I know that the Icon Packs just change every Icon in the App Drawer. But how do I access the Icon packs from the themes to change the Icons that I put on my homescreen and main dock. Whenever I long press any of the icons on my main screen no menu pops up to allow me to change the icon. If I long press on a blank spot on the screen and add a shortcut for an application it gives me the option to change the icon BUT not using any of the icons from the Theme Packs. I have two options Gallery & QuickPic.... Is there a way to import the icons from the theme packs into the Galleries? I downloaded all these icon packs & theme packs but I can't seem to access them & it's driving me NUTS!

If you know where the icons in the icon pack are stored, you could browse to them in Quickpic and select the one you want. You may need to enable hidden images - under Menu in Quickpic (and rescan the card).

Not sure for LP, but on Go, long press an icon, select replace, select custom icon, then it opens up your gallery.
 
I enabled hidden images, and it shows all of the skins i have downloaded for Beautiful Widgets, but I don't see ANY of the themes or icon packs that I downloaded for LauncherPro. I am searching my Phones files that are accessable right now to see if I can find any of them. Would rooting my phone make it easier to customize in the manner that I would like to?
I found a site online that has an "easy root" program that I am considering doing, this is off topic, but is rooting my phone worth it at all? If i back up my original Data on my SD card so I can restore it incase of needing the warranty?
 
A non root backup cant backup everything. Only SMS, contacts, maybe emails or applist. Only a rooted phone with Titanium or MyBackup Pro can backup apps and app data, while a Nandroid backup for everything including homescreen set up.
