As I wrote in the androidcentral news article, why "fix" what's not broken? Rewritten codes means new bugs and problems. I'm saving my current LP for this reason.
 
I am still waiting for him to get a job request from google. This is great news, I have been a long time LauncherPro supporter and always look forward to his work. Everytime I see an update in the market I get very excited.

I think he stated his case quite well. This dev has a good reputation and I'll be looking forward to the new from-the-ground-up build.

I understand what you're saying but rewritten code is almost always more efficient. That translates to speed and lower memory footprint with the caveat of some bugs. I will absolutely be grabbing the newest version when it becomes available.

You may disagree, but the dev thinks it *is* broken. The fact that Fede is never happy with his always-unfinished product bodes well for anybody who uses LP or LP+.

BTW, it's not a bad idea to hold back the previous version, just in case. I've disabled app Auto-Update for just that reason.
 
If this new version built from the ground up is as promising as it sounds I may just be making the jump to buying it.
 
Really excited about this!

I uninstalled LP to use touchwiz until the new LP came out, and couldn't stand TW! Reinstalled LP within 15 minutes lol!

I used to write little programs for Sun Microsystems in the 90's, rewriting them caused problems sometimes, I take it from experience. Although rewriting does produce more effective results in the end because you learn from your old codes and mistakes.
 
I wonder how long it will be till the NEW version is complete. I'll have to check his forum to see if he has a suggestion box for the new LP.

If it wasn't for paying users like us, this wouldn't be coming so quickly. I am all for finding free applications, but sometimes paying for an app or software package is the way to go. Especially for talented developers.

We have something almost in common. I currently write embedded code using C++ on Solaris and Linux. I see we're mostly agreeing here. As much as I hate rewriting stuff, I find doing it the second time I've often worked out the hard bits and can optimize.

In any case, the author impresses me by his drive to constantly improve. It makes me happy I bought the full version to support someone as dedicated as he.

I've been using the free version for the longest time (it does its job for me), but this is making me get the Pro version right now.

I have paid for many packages I've downloaded, I've always contributed or paid for whatever software I find useful. Free is nice, but it all takes time to develop, and if someone creates something that's useful for me and they want money for it (short money for the most part!!) I have no problem paying for it.

Absolutely. That is the attitude to have.
 
I need a way to purchase Plus. I have serious problems with PayPal and can't/won't use it and there isn't another way to purchase. I have Pro but really want Plus.
