Root Learning to root with ICS

Hey, I'm really new to the android platform and I'm wanting to root, just not really sure how. Any advice or guides that anyone could point me to would be greatly appreciated, including utilities, ROMs, and good stuff like that. Thanks!

Wait....ZIP file is over 1GB....why so large? The directions are confusing, at least to a lay person. Am I downloading the correct thing?

OK, I don't get it.

I downloaded and extracted the ZIP file. It has a lot of contents. What am I supposed to do?

has a screenshot with 7 items listed. Am I supposed to see this on my PC? If so, which file do I execute to pull it up? Do I have to do all 7 of those things, or is that a menu where I select which item to do? The "instructions" are very confusing.
