Apps Learning to write apps and widgets

I recently got myself an HTC Wildfire and am loving this new world of apps and widgets available to me. However while their are some great apps and widgets out their I'd like to start producing my own.

I can write a little c and understand the basics of programming but would like to advance my knowledge.

My question is does anybody know any good sites or books or anything that will help me on my way to writing my own apps and widgets?

Hi,

I can highly recommend the book Hello Android. It's a great intro into Android development. I think it would also be a good idea to learn a little Java first before jumping in to Android coding. There is a good newbie section at java.oracle.com
