Help LED won't stop flashing

Out of nowhere today my green led began flashing like an email/text notification without having any new messages. I have not installed or uninstalled any apps in weeks, rebooting does no good and even after I do get an email or text, the led still flashes.

Any thoughts on the cause or remedy?
