Lent...

I wish I would have been clever enough to think of such a loophope before I started! It was torture not drinking after my men's league hockey game last week....boo!
 
Are some people SOO out of touch with reality that they don't know what Lent is? I mean, my family is not Catholic but even I know what it is, when it is and know that it's not a freakin bruise. LOL
 
Technically I'm a member of the Lutheran church and Lutherans practice lent. However, since I've grown, I have come to believe there is no need to practice lent or attend an actual church on Sunday for it says in the bible that if two or more people gather and praise the Lord, it is church. Me and a friend of mine practice this and have others join us if they want because by having church this way, we avoid all the politics that ruin the fellowship. Politics brought the closing of the church I was a member of all my life in 2003 and I would like to avoid that experience altogether at all costs because it's not fun.

I still attend church when I can, but I was also taught the same thing. Church is a gathering of two or more people sharing the gospel....
 
I'm giving up giving up thing for lent. Oh, and the whole no meat on Friday? Yeah, real sacrifice for us living on the Gulf Coast. Crawfish boils FTW!! LOL
 
Years ago, I gave up being Catholic. It stuck. And was easy. No more lent junk for me.
