LG G4 Skype - No option to "Go Offline Never"

hi guys, i just got my G4 this week after being an apple user for years, I am used to skype on my iphone and receiving notifications while the app run in the background.. is this not the case for android skype? I cannot find the option to go offline, it just isn't there!!!
the only options under notifications are ones like: "sync group messages in the background" & "show skype as an ongoing notification"
are any of these the option im looking for?

Not sure I follow - if you go offline on desktop Skype you don't get notifications.

Anyway in addition to the settings, if you tap the avatar in the upper right you can choose between available or invisible. (And set your avatar and mood message btw.)

Anyway - choose either available or invisible, tap the home button, and Skype will continue to run, with whatever notifications currently offered.

All great advise for sure, I would only add to make sure you have "notifications" activated in settings to get those notifications, lol.
