I have this thing plugged in to charge, but for some dumb reason the battery level just stays at 2% and 3%. Why? The screen is at 25% birghtness. And where is the finger print reader? There seems to be not option in the security section. And how the f do I put in th sd card? And why doesn't lg include instructions?

If you get a sprint phone, is it unlocked? I saw a sim card in the sd card drawer. And how do you get rid of the useless spam apps? Many will not delete.

Are you using the supplied, stock charger? fingerprint reader is the same as the power button. The fingerprint setup is in menu/settings/and scroll to "fingerprints and security", then "fingerprints".
You put the sd card in the tray on the right/lower side. You need the supplied tool or a paperclip to unlock the tray.
LG includes directions in the box, and also online.
And why is there no way to rotate the home screen?

If it's a Sprint LG G5, I don't think its unlocked. And by unlocked, I presume you mean unlocked for any carrier?
You can only disable the "useless spam apps" unless you can root.

Auto rotate does not rotate the home screen for some demented reason.

And yup, the stock charger. Says fast charge. But is apparently full of crap.

The only instructions I saw were how to remove the battery. The rest was just a sprint getting started thing and then a booklet about radiation.

Yeah. But still. It shouldn't take several hours! Never had this problem before cept with a cheap POS. And it wasn't much faster when not using.

From what I gather you can change the homescreen layout? Can this be done without root? How?

By "change the homescreen layout" what exactly do you mean?
The possibilities are endless as far as widgets, icons, apps etc to be added on your homescreens, all without rooting.
