As you know, the LG G6 has an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. A traditional smartphone display is 16:9. All that means is the G6 display is slightly longer than a normal phone. You get extra vertical space for apps.
LG allows you to fine tune how apps are displayed with a feature called "App Scaling." By default, apps are displayed in a 16.7:9 aspect ratio, which is 18:9 minus the nav bar. This works completely fine for apps that aren't fullscreen.
Where you may run into some issues is with fullscreen apps, such as games. When you swipe from the bottom of the display to bring up the nav buttons, you'll see a new button for app scaling. Every app has 3 choices:
- Compatibility (16:9)
- Standard (16.7:9)
- Full screen (18:9)
You can also adjust App Scaling in the Settings.
- Go to Settings > Display
- Select App scaling
- Tap the app you want to adjust
- Choose one of the options
