LG GT540 Install Applications on memory card.

Hi I am a newbee to android phones, i came out of Symbian and selected android. I got a phone LG GT540(Optimus), i started to install the applications, but after a few application installed it is saying that the Phone memory is full. Is am trying to install the apps on the memory card.

I tried using Link2Sd, i created 2patitions and so on.. Now the error displayed is Root Access Warning. Link2Sd could not gain root access. If you have root access make sure u respond 'allow' to Superuser prompt. Please help me in resolving the issues.

Is there any other process to install the applications on the SD Card?

Mobile: LG GT540 (Optimus)
OS: Android 2.1 Update 1
SD Card: 8Gb (~ 750MB ext2 partition).

If I remember correctly, Apps can only be installed to SD card if you are on Froyo (2.2)

Maybe I'm wrong, but it's not ... Because Android 2.2 has a function to switch applications on the sd. A 2.1 and older do not have, so I installed the link 2sd now throws this error ... I watched the tutorial on yt but he does not eject...
