Help LG K20 screen dimming

I have an LG K20 Plus. When boot up, about every 5 seconds the screen dims to dark. I tried in the settings/display/ screen timeout to every setting but that does not override the about 5 second dimming. I have installed a couple of apps at the app store to keep the screen on. Any suggestion as to what to do?

Mine also did this. Go into settings> then Display> then down to Daydream & make sure it's turned off. Somehow it gets turned on, but this will fix your dark screen.

Can you please elaborate. Settings/display/? I don't see what you suggested I go to.
