LG Motion vs. Coolpad Quattro 4G at MetroPCS

Hi, I'm the new guy from the other thread inquiring about the Motion since I can't afford an Esteem that I wanted due to the larger screen. Now the MetroPCS site shows a new phone. It's the Coolpad Quattro 4G and it costs exactly the same as the Motion with the same rebate offer. So you pros tell me what the cons are since the screen is bigger. Brand name I imagine is starters.

I wouldn't bother with the Quattro. Specs are NOTHING. Cant touch Esteem with a 100ft pole. Motion on the other hand is a real nice new toy.

Gigaom says the following:

"You have probably never heard of Yulong or its Coolpad brand, but in China its a top 3 smartphone maker beating out even the iPhone in device sales."

"The Phone Maker That's Killing Apple In China Arrives In The U.S."

That helps in the quality department but not specs. What are the cons, specifically, in comparison to the Motion?

EDIT: Ok, used the COMPARE feature on the MetroPCS site. Most things that one has the other has also. HOWEVER, some of the more important ones are WAY better on the Motion. Sheesh, what a hit you take for a bigger screen.:(

The Quattro has a 4" screen. And that is about all it has going for it. In every other way the Motion is multiple generations ahead.

If you are set on the larger screen then wait for the ZTE Anthem. Price-point will probably be a little higher, but you'll get a 4.3" phone that is only 1 generation behind the Motion, rather then 4.0" phone that is multiple generations back.

the quattro is not the one you want the motion is way better as far as specs cant wait to get mine as my esteem has me bored already

my esteem has me bored already

So as to not make me search your comments elsewhere. Can you elaborate on what's go you bored with it? Others can comment on their Esteem in this aspect also.

Good tip, however, I don't know how long my current phone is going to last. What's the approximate release date for the ZTE Anthem?

I'm relatively new here and others are probably better qualified to answer this but I did get the Esteem the day it was released so here's my 2

Thanks, anubispax. The main reason I want a big screen is for browsing the internet with as little scrolling as possible and with as big word reading as possible within whatever amount of page size I choose to use. Still, the Motion seems to be the choice with what is available right now for the money. That's especially true with the speed at which it's working.

August 29th keeps getting thrown around. But the originally predicted dates for the Motion and Quattro were off (reversed actually). Maybe they'll still drop it in for the weekend but who knows.

Definitely the motion 4g is better ..smaller screen is the only thing I don't like about it ...anybody have any idea about the SIII ??

the esteem is a great phone dont get me wrong its just that its a big phone to begin with which is great but then you add that extended battery in my case i had the 3800mah which is huge but the battery life is good. dev support is absolutely great for the esteem cant complain there either. theres not a lot of bad on the esteem its just that i want to try something different and with the smaller screen on this phone the battery life might not be as bad with just the stock battery but ill see soon. all in all its time to move on from the esteem for me besides if someone is giving me cash money for it than even better i wont feel as bad getting rid of it also this might be a good test to see when the s3 comes out if i wanna go back to a bigger screen so this is like a test run to see if i can calm my sickness

I like the looks of the Motion, and the specs are amazing especially battery life. I and my GF had Esteems...we hated them, nothing but one problem after another, even after getting them replaced at the Metro Corp store. I finally sold mine, and got a LG Connect..great phone, almost same specs as the Motion. I have had no issues with the connect except for battery life, and if i turn off my 4g the battery seems to last much longer.

My sister and I both got the Motion and got the $50 rebate form so you can buy two of the same models and still get the rebate. Well, at least in our area. I was bothered, though, about having to pay a $15 phone upgrade fee. I know other carriers charge that and some charge even higher. However, if I'm buying a phone doesn't that mean I'm making Metro money? Oh, well, at least it's not super expensive. Oh, yeah, since I was there I paid my bill there which I normally do online also. There was a charge for that also. Let me say, oh well, again.:)

Yea upgrade fee and the $3 fee is all for the dealers to make extra, metro supports it. Other carriers have $36 upgrade fee i think is the norm for the big guys. You can avoid the fee from metro if you buy the phone on the website and just call to activate it.

Either way a dealer can explain features, even fill out your rebate form along with giving you the copies that you need to send with it and get you in and out of the store quick depending on the location. Give you discounts on accessories and more!

But some people dont care they still complain about the fees xD lol

I wasn't really upset but not thrilled either, obviously, about the $15. They were friendly and all but also pushing higher plans and accessories which kind of nullified the friendliness. Ok, only from the manager on that part. About getting me in and out fast, there was one person before us and a few after. I don't know what it was about ours but we were there approximately an hour and a half. I'm already on Metro and my sister was getting moved from AT&T and keeping the same number. Those things might add time but you still have to wonder about in and out. Again, not the worst and I'm still generally satisfied with Metro for what I pay.

If your sister is just coming over its a new activation. Activation or reactivation is normally free. Metro gives suggestions, but its up to the dealer on whether to charge them. 15$ is pretty standard on a phone switch

My suggestion....do it online and save yourself fees.
