Help LG My Places APP Question

Napalm

OK for the rest of us VZ users it seems there is an APP stright up missing from our V20's. As best as I can see you can turn on the smart setting program and you could use it but the "HOME" and "AWAY" functions will never work,

Without the My Places APP - that is an LG app placed within the rom of most of the V20. VZ removed this on our models.

Does anyone out there with a ATT, or Tmobile or _______ V20 have access to the My Places app and might could copy it off to the side? Or if anyone's elses Google Fu is better than mine (and that's an easy feat) please point how we could load this app on our devices seperatly.

I think that will fix the Smart Settings problems.

THank you OH and also post up any other info you might have.

I'm about 2 steps into making up a tasker scene for this but I really wanted to use the baked in LG system

I need some more information.......
I have US Cellular.
Under Smart Settings i can choose my places on the map. It also does what I think it should do. BUT i cannot find a My Places in any of my APP lists.

so for VZ you have to basically find and make a shortcut to get to the smart settings applet. It's hidden in our ROM's.

When you launch smart settings you have the option of setting up a Home and Away profile. It gives a messages saying this uses the my places app, would you like to set your home location.

when you try it stays grey - then says over the next 5 days the setting will determine your home location. Well no it won't because the my places app doesn't exist on the VZ phones. On other V20's it does exist and works fine.

I can't screen shot it but I believe the applet is called LG.places.itt.apl or something along those lines. If I can find the thread I read about this on I'll link it.

Those having issues, go into your settings and under locations is where my places is located.

After turned on, right next to the on off icon you will see three dots. Tap on that and it will take you to additional settings for my places.

see that bit labeled places - and my place. that doesn't exist on a VZ version of the V20.

It's supposed to but it has been removed. apparently an applet is missing for that to exist but I wonder if there is more to it.

Check out your apps and see if you have my place app.

Don't have my places or my places engine. I think I need them both - and other people on VZ should have the same problem.

Just to add, as another VZW user, when clicking the dots in Location, the only option is Scanning, no "My Places" or additional settings. And definitely no My Places app anywhere to be found yet. No idea why Verizon would feel the need to lock that out, honestly.

So is there anyone adept enough with another flavor of V20 that can copy the individual apps out for use on other phones.

are there any developers that frequent the board able to look into if this this a simple fix

what does what do now. the my places app

as best as I can figure it's a routine LG put in play to keep up with locations the phone goes to most often. Like Work and Home for example and allow setup of features based on those places.

Example - it will ask you if you want it to accept less authenticaion in a known safe area - as in since you are at home it will turn the screen off but not lock the device. but if you leave your house the mobile will lock as it leaves the area.

That is my guess.

I was able to set up the less restrictive stuff when I set my security stuff up in the password and fingerprint area. It asked for locations that I wanted less security, like you described, but I had to manually use a map to identify those locations.
