Help LG Nexus 5 keeps cutting off!?

So my reasonably new (last 6 months) LG Nexus 5 has started cutting off.
It's always whilst i'm using it, the battery's not low, it just cuts off, when I try and turn it back on it loads the android screen and then cuts right back off again, and won't turn back on until I plug it into charge!? Then it comes back on no problem (always with plenty of battery)!
Have I frazzled the battery?

I really don't think it's a power button issue as my power button seems to work fine, I can turn my phone on and off regularly no problem?

Next step then would be a factory reset. It still sounds like it could be hardware.

And is not this occurred through the fault of software failures.

Try resetting to factory or firmware update.
