2/19/17 Google search bar stopped working on my LG Nexus 5x Phone. It was still there, but it wouldn't search. Note, I recently updated to the latest version of Android, 7.1.1. Various fixes I found on the web didn't seem to apply or to fix the problem. I just updated the Google app and that update fixed the problem.
