Bought my wife a Lg optimis g its a AT-T version of the phone. My wife lives in france and the phone was unlocked here and I sent it to her. She put her sim card in and she can call , so that works, she gets wi fi in her house on the phone, but she cant get 3g off her carrier service, she can call, but has no internet once she leaves her house. Anybody know why, or what settings to check to make this work ? thanks.

The phone uses different frequencies for 3G than AT&T uses, so 3G (and internet) won't work on that phone in France. The only solution is to buy a European Optimus G.

What are APN settings ? and where on the phone do I find them. My wife will kill me if she cant get internet other than her house. She is with Free.fr,

My wife downloaded that app from free, no internet connection. When we go to networks and look at the apn, proxy etc, they all say free, they have no numbers next to them, is this normal ? seems like the app didn't do anything, shouldn't we see apn numbers now ?

Yes you have the model number correct. We went in manually and all seems ok, some of the numbers were set, but there are a lot of things that say nothing.

Im wondering what frequency that FREE mobile .fr works on for 3g, is it 2100 or 900 mghz, maybe this phone has the wrong frequency.

It has 2100 for 3g, but I cant find what frequency free mobile uses.

I don't want to give up yet, but not sure its going to work. Any other suggestions would be great and I really appreciate your help.

I think you hit it on the head, from more reading Free mobile.fr, and Orange mobile.fr use both 900/2100 mghz for there 3g, depending where you are, dense city areas use 900mghz, and other areas 2100, so my wifes phone only supports 2100 mghz from what I have read. I think its just not possiable to make it work.

Maybe 4g with orange mobile fr could work, its LTE, not sure.

Update, my wife is getting 4g now on here phone since the apn was manually done, its kinda of spotty, it works here and there, but I think free doesn't have a great 4g network anyway. The other problem is when she cant get 4g it don't resort to 3g at all, I that is because of the 900mgz band on 3g, so I guess its better than nothing. I think orange fr has a much better 4g network, so maybe switiching carriers would help, thanks.
