LG Optimus F3 OTA Update Problem?

Alright, so basically I rooted my phone when I got it last year and deleted a bunch of the preinstalled apps that I did not want. (For more space) Well last week I get this update notification for a new OTA update. I try to update, it gets to about 30%, then the android guy falls over with the red sign, and the phone reboots normally and I get the update notification again. I tried multiple ways to get this notification to go away, such as the apps that disable the update service. They aren't permanent and I would have to reapply every reboot, so I got tired of that real quick. Then I noticed that I was not receiving incoming calls all the time, so I figured maybe this OTA update was required and would fix that. I decided to go to backup and restore and restore my phone to factory default. Well after doing this I found out some of the apps I removed... still aren't there.. And I feel like a dumbass. Like for instance I had no keyboard.. I had to download an .apk one just to login to google play again. After messing around fixing my settings back to usual I see the update pop up again. So I try to install it and the same thing happens... It gets to about 30%, then falls over with the red sign and fails. Im basically back to where I was before. Is there anyway I can salvage this? Or should I just buy a new phone? I think I messed it up by removing those unused apps.. I did not know it was permanent =/ Guess I learned the hard way.

Phone: LG Optimus F3 on Virgin Mobile

Thanks in advance.

First off, I have the Optimus F3 as well, though on T-Mobile. Also rooted. And no, you haven't permanently broke the thing.

Yes, the update is failing because of your removal of some system apps. This is why its usually not recommended to take OTA's after seriously messing with the system.

A "Factory Reset" isn't like a windows computer where resetting restores lost software. It assumes that because the apps in /sysem/app/ can't be touched, it only needs to delete user apps and user data. If you've deleted system apps, a reset won't get them back because it has nowhere to restore those apps from.

One of our helpful moderators can move this over to our Optimus F3 forum. There, someone should be able to link you to an unbrick guide which you can use to get a compete reinstall of the sotfware.

Thank you so much Joel! I looked up an unbricking guide and its all good and working now! Thank you for your help! You saved my phone! =D
