Help LG Optimus G poor signal reception

I have noticed that my Optimus G has poor signal reception compared to my HTC One and Galaxy S4. I tried switching sim cards but the result is the same. 2G signal is somehow "okay" but whenever I select WCDMA, I only get 1 to 2 signal bar even in areas where 3G is strong.

One thing I also noticed is that Merriam Webster is not working. Tried re-downloading it thrice but it just won't work.
