LG Optimus Slider or Motorola Triumph?

GAMESHARQ

Android Enthusiast
I currently have the Samsung Intercept but I am thinking about switching.

I am considering either the LG Optimus Slider or the Motorola Triumph.

I usually like to have a physical keyboard which is what the Slider has and the Triumph does not. The Triumph is more powerful but also more expensive.

Do you think the Triumph is good enough to be worth the extra money?

Triumph has more roms for customize ability and is better for games, but if your not into games and rooting, go with the slider
But yes in my opinion triumph is better and worth it :)

Yea Triumph can get better games with Little to No lag like the Slider would have

One more question. Do I need to buy the phone through Virgin Mobile if I want to use my current VM plan or can I buy the phone anywhere, like Amazon?

I'd say you should wait for the Optimus Elite if you are willing to do a Slider... it will have 2.3 AND NFC. But if you do gaming, go for the Triumph, or wait for the hopeful HTC One V.

I really wouldn't get the MT for gaming unless you have a some sort of bluetooth controller (either a wiimote, ps3 controller, or other bluetooth controller). Sure the MT can handle games, but with the touchscreen playing games that require both fingers on the screen don't work to well because the MT has some problems with the touchscreen as in having 2 fingers on the screen on the same axis if one moves the other will also move, so I personally would either wait to see what comes in the near future or get the MT realizing that fact.

I saw the comparisons at gizmodo or one of those sites, I forgot, but the best phone on virgin right now is the LG Optimus. The Triumph doesn't even come close to graphics rendering speed.

Really? But the Triumph is significantly more money. You'd think it would be faster. Maybe I'll just wait and hope for the HTC One V. That phone looks pretty good too.

You really think so? I've owned both and I have to say the MT takes the cake on graphic rendering. It may not have as good of quality screen (as in most have a blue tint...), but it still renders better.

The MT is a good phone, but it doesn't have true multitouch... That's my main gripe about the MT really...

yeah. You know the LG optimus comes in different models for all the carriers, theres the O, the V (virging mobile), the t (t-mobile) etc. but they're all the same internally, so this guy at engadget did the comparison between it and the triumph and the lg optimus still came up ahead, despite being a couple of years older! there's also the C, U, And what ever verizon's was... And I still don't see anything proving that the V is better with anything graphical than the MT. Like I said before I think the MT is worse in some sense than the OV. It's crappier build quality and such, but it still out performs the OV... As in hardware chips (Cpu, and Gpu). everything else I would have to say the OV had better in pretty much...

Oh wow, I just read that apparently not only is Virgin Mobile getting the HTC One V, but they will also be releasing the HTC Evo V 4G. No pricing on that one yet. Hopefully it will come soon because I really need a new phone and this one sounds like it could be good.

I wish they would add another LG phone with roughly the same specs as the Triumph. I would jump all over that as I'm a huge LG fanatic. LG just makes rock solid equipment.

My wife's intercept inexplicably died after gravity smashed it on the ground, & she's loving the optimus slider -- the physical keyboard is a plus for her.
I have the Optimus V, & thought about the Triumph when it came out, but the reviews everywhere rated it lower than the LG phones.

actually the LG G2X was highly rated, since it has an Nvidia dual core processor. Cnet lost its panties over it.

Have you ever talked to a person who owns and uses a G2X? Just because cnet gave it high ratings that doesn't mean sh!t. I've heard so many complaints about bugs that plague the G2X... Kinda like the MT. Sure there are always good ones but then again there aren't always...

Also sorry for derailing this thread...

Actually you do have to rely on reviews to choose a decetn phone. It's impossible to personally know someboyd who owns the hundreds of cell phones available lol. :D cheers if you do, though .

Well yes and no... I wouldn't just check out reviews from places like phonedog and cnet and such, because they only have the device to test for a few days and can't really get a feel if there are any problems or not all that well, maybe they can tell build quality and such, but it's better to check out forums and user submitted reviews (on the devices/ carriers website reviews can be kinda skewed though...). And watch youtube videos of a bunch of people doing reviews and unboxings and what they think of the device.
