LG Optimus Zone 3 root?

I have the LG Optimus Zone 3 VS425PP for Verizon running stock LG 5.1.1 and im looking for a way to root it so that I can start development on a custom rom. Ive used kingo root which fails at 66%. After using kingo for a second time I noticed that my recovery now says modified. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

that's weird kingo root worked for me. LG phones are easy to root normally so any tool that you'd use to root another phone like the G series or other prepaid LG phones should work.

(edit) I should also note i used the kingo root app (here) instead of the tool for a computer

Get kingo root apk v4.5 from apkmirror don't use super sume, it will brick. I wanna find a custom recovery soon.
