LG Stylo 2 - Oreo update?

Seeing that Android 8 will probably not be released for my phone. I am finding tutorials about flashing the phone to Oreo. Has anyone done this? Is it a virus scam thing? I'm on Noughat (7) right now. Thanks in advance.

The Stylo 2 plus may have a Android 8.0 rom available, not sure. I know i did a device client the other day with a HTC M8 that had a rom with 8.0
