LG V10 in 2017

Is LG V10 a good buy for 2017, will it be able to compete the new flagships. Thinking to get one for everyday use but slightly confused about the battery, will it get me through a day?

Even if the stock battery isn't enough, unlike 99% of phones now, you can replace it for a larger capacity, extended battery. I myself have had excellent luck with those from zerolemon.

If that's somehow not enough to get through the day, I don't know what else to tell you. :p

Will surely consider a secondary battery, but what about the performance of the phone, is it still a good purchase in 2017.

Yes, phone specs just aren't as evident or relevant in terms of usability like they are for a PC.

We all know we need a beefy ass PC to handle gaming at 4K, but then Intel wants to limit the ability to decode Netflix and Blu-ray at 4k to their mainstream Kaby lake chips with integrated graphics. Conversely, a well tuned ROM with even a quad core Android phone can still be as usably efficient as an 8 core chip on a lazily put together phone.
