LG V20 not recognizing usb when plugged in.

I just loaded up my LG V20 with the AOKP android 7.1, I plugged in my USB OTG ( SD micro card installed in this) and it will not even power on at all. I rebooted into TWRP, and it works just fine there, I can read, mount and unmount, no troubles. Booted to system, but no power at all to the adapter plugged into the USB-c / charging port. I loaded a second custom ROM, Desolaton, and it behaved in the same manner as AOKP. I then restored the original V20 OS in TWRP from a backup, , and it sees the drive just fine, so it must have something to do with this phone and how it behaves with custom ROM's. My reader is a couple of years old, but doubt that is an issue since is does work on the original OS. Is there a setting I might be overlooking In Settings to enable this to work? Any ideas as to if it might be a hardware of software issue? Thanks.

Do the other ROM's actively support USB-OTG feature. USB On The GO - that is a seperate driver/applet that lets Android OS base notice a valid drive attached via USB. Main reason I can see why it would work on the factory rom (I know it supports it) and doesn't work with other roms.

Do you or have you tried another rom specific for the V20 or maybe V30?

Thanks for the reply! I have since loaded the ROM Desolation for my V20, and it behaves in the same manner. Works in recovery, but not the OS. Really has me stumped!. I know my OTG is good, as I used to use it when running CM13 on my Lg V3, unless it is a compatability error of some type. Sure hate to buy a newer OTG just to have that one not work as well.

well again since it works fine on your factory rom - then obviously it works. The issue is whoever is packaging your root roms is probably missing a piece or 2 for the system to work. It's been a while since I dug into doing rom's and the like. I haven' t since android 5. But it was pretty common for a rom and base to be missing pieces that are needed for unique hardware.

Maybe try a rom that is based off the LG rom first - see how that runs. Assuming such a thing exists.
