Help LG V35: Knock Code Correct When Unlocked, But Incorrect in Security Settings

I have an LG V35 smartphone (Android Oreo 8.0). I have configured my smartphone for fingerprint locking with Knock Code.

My knock code is correct when the screen is off. Once i enter the correct knock code, my smartphone unlocks. If I turn the phone off while not letting go of the power button and wait for a couple of seconds and turn the phone back on, I can enter the correct Knock code which then unlocks the phone. I need to access the Lock Screen setting to change to PIN with fingerprint unlock because when I try to enter the correct Knock code, I get a message that Knock code does not match.

I did enter the Knock code about 1.2 seconds per tap, but the settings told me it still does not match! I entered the Knock code while the screen is off and I have entered the Knock code within the 4 quadrants properly and correctly, so where can I go from here? Hard reset?

Thanks,

Update: I solved my problem by doing a factory reset. It's a lot easier than having to troubleshoot and I got all of my apps installed by Google from a backup. If I can mark my thread as a [WORKAROUND], that would be great. And following the factory reset, the use of PIN for unlocking is more reliable than Knock Code. I found it strange that I can unlock using Knock Code, but if I try to change a security setting, my smartphone told me that Knock Code does not match.

I seamed to have come upon this same issue over the last few days with multiple restarts being the solution temporarily. After playing around I did figure out that it seamed to drop the last knock on the code. When I tried that it let me in to change the settings. Maybe it is this easy for the others that have this issue so you all don't have to do a factory reset.

Oh, really!? :( A couple of restarts would have let me in to the security settings? I could care less to use phone-specific features that cause problems. For example, a few months ago, I was riding my tricycle in Grayton Beach (Florida) and with my phone faced down in my right pocket, my phone accidentally dialed 911 twice and I got a couple of voicemail messages. Luckily, no police officers came to me. It turns out it's the "KnockOn" feature for double-tapping the screen despite my phone being in my jean's pocket, so I disabled the feature to prevent emergency pocket dialing from happening again.

Sometimes, there are manufacture-specific features that just isn't worth keeping on or using. The knock code worked during unlocking but didn't work when I try to change the security settings so I had to factory reset during July 20th and I couldn't keep the data for AccuBattery. And then the KnockOn (double-tap to turn the screen on) feature caused pocket 911 dial twice when activating a lock screen while riding my tricycle.

If only my Nexus 6P could last a little longer but my phone got shut down even at 98% when unplugged. That's because I charged up to 100% almost every single day. Now with my LG V35, I only charge my phone when I need to charge my battery up to sometime between 40% to 60% but no more than that. I simply have my phone off during the weekends.

Anyway, if only your post could have came way sooner before July 20th but hopefully your post can help others which is why I marked your thread as an answer to my problem. Honestly, I think it's the bug in the phone and not ours to blame for enabling Knock Code no matter what we do when we enter the code correctly but the phone simply won't accept it as correct when a change in security settings is needed.

I apologise, I should refrase that post just a little bit so I don't confuse others. The restarts would let me past the lock screen but not into the security settings to change it. It was only by accident that I found that dropping the last knock got me past the lock screen. After seeing this then I tried it in the security settings and it worked. I then promptly changed the lock settings.
I just find this to be such a weird bug that after several months with more than a few people complaining that LG would do something but I guess they think a factory reset is good enough.
In regards to knock on. That is interesting I'm glad nothing came from that. You would think the proximity sensor would play a role in the Knock on feature to prevent such occurrences.
I'm just glad they fixed the issue when my camera would freeze every other time I opened it.
