LG v521 head phone issue

ddip33

Lurker
My son broke the head phone jack. Replaced it and still does work.
I pulled the little jack out. I still have a head phone icon on the top right menu bar. I have to keep using a head phone doable toggle app in order to use the speaker for facetime or videos. Annoying because I have to reset this all the time.

How can I disable the headphone jack perminatly.
I've reset the bios battery rebuild the tab

Pls help
TIA
Danny

Just to clarify some misconceptions so you might find it easier to find solutions online-
-- There is no Facetime available for any Android device. It's exclusive only to Apple devices and Apple refuses any other platform to include Facetime support -- it's a closed-source, proprietary service that's protected by copyrights so no other company can legally include support to it.
-- BIOS is a desktop/laptop pre-boot firmware, Android devices do not and cannot use it.

Getting back to your query, it sounds like the plug end tip of his earbud/headphone broke off into the headphone jack of your LG. The jack, or port, is the actual opening, and at its bottom end, the part deepest inside your LG, is a simple switch mechanism. When the earbud/headphone plug gets pushed all the way in, this pushes the switch mechanism so the audio signal that normally goes to the speaker now goes to the earbud/headphone.
Either the tip end of the plug is still wedged into the bottom of the jack, or the switch mechanism has been damaged during initial accident or extraction process. Both can be involved fixes -- the former being difficult because that headphone jack opening is pretty small and it won't be easy to extract a broken piece if it is wedged into the bottom; and the latter could involve replacing the entire motherboard (as most headphone jacks are not modular and are soldered directly onto the circuit board).

Thank you.

Im not going to even respond to ur insulting response. Plus from ur response it seems like you didn't even read my post carefully. Just too quick to respond and act like a know it all. Haha

Didn't intend to offend you, just trying to point out obvious misconceptions you have about your phone. When you're trying to diagnose a problem if you're not familiar with the commonly used and previously established terminology, that will a) make it harder to find relevant information online and b) greatly increase the odds you will be taken advantage of if you instead opt to take your phone into a service center.

@ddip33, I see absolutely nothing insulting in @svim's post. He's a very knowledgeable and helpful member, whose thorough and thoughtful posts help a lot of people.

It's hard sometimes, online, in print, to see a person's intent. I can't speak for him, but I can say from years of reading his posts that he's not the insulting type.

And I agree that it's important to understand and use correct terminology. Facetime is an Apple product. Period. No one's insulting you by stating that fact. :)

You're possibly doing what a lot of people do, calling something by a brand name without realizing it! Like Kleenex for any brand of facial tissue, or Q-Tips for cotton swabs.

If you take your phone to a shop and use terms that don't apply to Android, they'll likely peg you as an easy target. We're just trying to help you.

I guess you're using "facetime" in a generic sense, meaning any video conferencing and not necessarily Apple's Facetime, which is on Apple products only, not Android.

Like "hoover", "walkman", etc.
