I was sittng here thinking about when a cell phone was just that, a mobile device that allowed you to do what you normally have to do at home attached to a wall.;) We were all content with that I think.

Now cell phones can do so many other things and the manufacturers never stop coming out with new things. I firmly believe that they have reached the end any other thing they add would seem to be more of a want than a need. To me the only thing they could and should improve on is making it faster, with updates, adding more useful apps and making the apps flawless.:rolleyes:

Every year they have us looking for the lastest and greatest and when we believe nothing can top what we just bought, they make your investment look like crap.:eek: So we go out and spend another $200 on a new device because this one does what we already have faster and it looks a whole lot better.

Do you think it will ever end? I mean I personally am very happy with my Hero. I have no problems with it, it does everything my centro did and a whole lot more that I find useful on a much cleaner looking device. I am truly content with it running the stock rom especially since the last update.

How long will you play the game? Will you always buy the newest device? Do you think the cell phone companies will ever stop creating new devices and just improve on the ones we have and cell those exclusively?

It will end as soon as we find a new interest. I don't think they will continue to sell cell phones at the same rate if they continue as they currently are--which is why they won't continue to be "Faster with updates". The cell phones of the future will be even more computer like, and computers of the future will be even more cell phone like.

There will ALWAYS be something better, faster, quicker, more than the previous model. It's a matter of how creative the inventors get to be where we will be buying something different than the cell phone we know today. Remember, it was only maybe 10 years ago that the TracFone was actually a pretty decent flip "dumbphone" and car manufacturers actually included phones in the console!!
 
Its human nature. Be on top. Have the best of the best. We get bored with what we have easily.

I've had my behold 2 for just over a month now but i've had iphone envy since i got a G1 when it came out. Why? because iphone has that ''we're better than you'' kind of attitude and theres some sort of crazy allure to it But i know that soon after i get it i'll want something else. its who i am, its who most of us are.

Will there be an end to it? Possibly. Some day. Soon? No. Its easy to change a few things and sell it as a new phone. samsungbehold 2 / galaxy. look at it. All companys of any product anywhere will just piss on you and call it rain.

Theres an end to it, but not any time in our near future.
