on the left menu button (left side of the home button) it only lights up about half way on the right side of the button. The left side looks funny like the light isn't bright enough.
Is this normal?

I wouldn't call it normal, but I have heard of someone else with a similar problem. On my Verizon SIII the menu button is dim in the middle. It's only slightly noticeable (see attached image).
I've looked at the tear down on iFixit.com and it looks like the light MAY be transmitted from 2 LEDs on the mainboard via plastic to the area behind the buttons. As to what causes the uneven lighting I'm not sure. But if it's a huge issue for you, return the phone.
