ok for starters the said phone is an SM-J327P boost mobile sim is active but no data plan payed
i believe it was running 6.0.1 when manhandled...i did what i could in the last week or so as nights turned into morning twrp... cwm....custom recoveries.......all to have some roms working and some not. every single time i get something working the only thing wrong is the wifi wont turn on and stay on ive followed every step, ive watched countless aggrevating videos. my browser shows everything about that dumb phone already researched ive done just about everything i can think of i need a clear solution.. somehow im deff overlooking a step not written down about odin or twrp or cwm or u name it if you got the brainpower please give me a hand figuring this out i will gladly donate something to someones time and knowledge, apparently something i am lacking this moment. whatever you need to know just ask, just dont bash. this thing has beaten me enough already................SOS

Well first off, what are you trying to accomplish? Root it? I haven't rooted my phones in a while, they're largely not worth the trouble since a lot of important apps will not work if phone is rooted like the banking apps I use.

Second, what exact ROMs have you used? Are you sure they are for the US version?

Third, these issues sound more like something you should tackle with the maker of the ROM, not Samsung or Android itself, because these custom ROMs are made by third party people.

all im trying to do is get a working rom into this thing... i first exhausted myself trying to just get it back to stock then when i couldnt get that to work i tried some 3rd party ones like you said i cant really riddle them off because i deleted them as i found them not to work so not to confuse myself. i know the last one i tried was a custom it was a combination-spt or something and before that was a stock APL1

These are the official ROMs for it, and none of them are listed for Boost Mobile. So likely you could have been flashing the wrong ROMs

but see ive found ones saying for boost... ive even tried versions of those boost data fix's that were flashable none worked ive been racking my brain and still dont think im missing any steps i just want the damn thing back to stock

those have unknown carriers ive tried them no good... the phone is through sprint but boost carrier tried those too no good

ok so i downloaded smart switch, and kies and kies lite smart switch has changed their program so it acts and looks diff than the post smart switch doesnt have the software just wants me to upload my own software. if i try both versions of kies it just refers me back to smart switch.......o0

ok so this is prob a really dumb question for you guys but if i only need the tar file from the extracted zip folder then why are there carrier files and so on in the same folder ? should i be looking deeper or just worry about the tar md5 file ? i couldnt find a custom rom that had working wifi so this stock option seems great lol and thanks jfalls63 for lighting up this tunnel for me

I never really dug into Samsung firmware. As long as I could get it to flash and pass in Odin, I was happy. Just unzip the tar file and put it in the AP slot and let Odin do it's thing.
Have only used Samsung 4part files a few times. Samsung phones are usually forgivable if you flash the wrong version.
Getting a fail in Odin does happen, but I have only ever bricked one Samsung doing something stupid in terminal that I couldn't recover from.

ya compared to other phones ive just messed with this samsung is a freaking tank its taken countless wrong moves and at one point twrp was all screwed up with errors lol but its back in action and waiting for that download of that file u suggested prob 10 more minutes and we shall see lol

At this point, I'm out of my experience on this. I live outside the US, so I never had to deal with these carrier files. I have even flashed French software on my Samsungs and I'm in Asia. I have German firmware (for root) on my South East Asian carrier locked Tab 4. So not anymore sure what to do with the issues you're having.

Maybe we could try to exactly identify the phone through IMEI?

ok should i wipe the phone/ format data or anything before i drop into download mode? most things i have read said usually there is no need but hey figured id ask

Odin flash should erase all user data if successful same as a factory reset.
One of the things that I have always hated about Samsung devices is multiple model numbers for the same phone and CSC codes which determine what firmware will work. CSC codes are easy to find on a working phone but hard to determine for one that won't boot up normally.
