Help Linking Contacts?!?

I've managed to link my facebook contacts with the contact's numbers on my phone, in the majority of cases in my contacts, it uses their name on facebook, for some people I'd like to use their nickname, as it is in my phone contacts, however when I linked my Mum (known as Mum in my phone) to her facebook profile instead of using her full name as it appears on her FB, it uses the name from my phone (Mum), I can't seem to replicate this for other people, any ideas? I've tried linking in different orders and this has no effect.

I don't know the answer, but my wife's Fascinate does it too...would love to hear an answer as well.
