SM-T510NZSAXAC I am thinking of buying one of these and putting a card in it. then I will put lots of small videos on the card..
question is what is the best way to put links on the homescreen to each of these videos (will take several screens!!)
I used to use Fileshortcut.
thanks all
if this is on the wrong part of the forum i am sure someone will move it. but it is a general question that applies to all android tablets.

There are file managers that have this feature. For example, I use "Root Explorer" which allows me to long press on a video then select "create shortcut" and add the shortcut to my home screen.

There's a non root version of "Root Explorer" simply called "Explorer" that should also have this feature.

explorer site says Create home screen shortcuts to files and folders.
do you think i can use my own icons?
thanks for your help

Changing the icon to your own is a feature provided by some launchers. I use Nova launcher. So in Explorer I create the shortcut to the video and once it's on my home screen, I long press the shortcut and Nova launcher lets me change the icon to any image I want.

Several of my file managers have this feature, but when I choose it...nothing appears to happen. I look at all 7 of my home screens, but there is no newly-created shortcut as there should be.

My gut instinct is some incompatibility with my ADW Launcher.

Thoughts, anyone?

I just tried it with the stock Motorola launcher and it didn't work. It seems to be dependent on the launcher. As soon as I switched back to Nova launcher, the shortcut was on my home screen.

Yeah, I had tried it with Motorola's stock launcher, and it didn't work there either.

It's not something I can see a great [or any!] need for personally, but it's certainly a nifty trick to be able to pull out of my hat for future inquiries, you know? :)

Same here. This is pretty useless for me. Only bothered with it to answer the OP. I rather open my gallery where the videos are neatly sorted for me.

I can confirm that Solid Explorer can also do this (with Nova launcher managing my desktops).

It's not something I want (I like my desktops clean), but I tried it just now and it worked.

Changing icons? That may depend on what launcher you use.
